This section aims to provide all the relevant information with regard to hiring a scanning system for retail.
 
How does a scanning system work?
 
A flat keyboard till is used for our scanning systems and the till is linked with a pre configured barcode scanner. A number of open departments can be programmed onto the keyboard such as Grocereries, Confectionery, Beers, Wines etc. In this situation the amount can be keyed into a department and till operated as a basic till. However with the attatched scanner you have two options firstly to scan the barcode say for example a can of fosters allocate the price £1.00 and allocate to beers department or alternatively you can programme the full description into the till for example fosters. You only need to programme this into the till for the first time as the next time the till scans the item it will recognise at the price set
 
Scanning & Advanced Functions
 
Scanning tills can carry out a number of advanced functions. Depending on the model chosen, they can have the ability to track stock quantities (e.g. you have 23 cans of Pepsi left in stock). They cannot track food recipes however. 
 
Receipts and Audit Rolls
 
All our scanning tills use 2 till rolls - one roll constantly prints as you carry out your sales, and is rolled up automatically onto a spool inside the cash register. This gives you an audit or journal roll, with which you can look back at the full sales and reporting history of your cash register. The other is used to provide customer receipts if required, and to print your current financial (X) and end-of-day (Z) reports.
 
All our scanning cash registers can be programmed to print your Company name, address, VAT number etc etc, depending on your requirements. Please note that there is a limit to the number of characters and lines that can be printed – this varies model-to-model.
 
What are the rental periods?
 
We offer a number of different options when it comes to hiring a scanning systems, and will always try to tailor a full package to your requirements.
 
As standard our minimum rental period is One Week, but we also offer longer terms, such as a 1 month rental or a 3 month rental.
 
What are the hardware options?
 
We offer a range of models of scanning systems for use in retail environments. They are the Geller SX-580 (no stock capability, 64 programmable item keys), the Geller SX-590 (no stock capability, 110 programmable item keys), Geller SX-680 (stock capability, 64 programmable keys), or the Geller SX-690 (stock capability, 110 programmable item keys).
 
 
What are the rental costs?
 
The rental costs for a basic cash register are as follows:
  • 1 Week (Minimum Hire Term):  £55.00 + V.A.T. - Per week cost up to and including 3 weeks.
  • 1 Month:  £150.00 + V.A.T.
  • 3 Months:  £375.00 + V.A.T.

If you cannot collect the cash register and return it to us, a total charge of £25.00 + V.A.T. will be made for Courier delivery and collection.

We require a £100.00 deposit, which is fully refundable upon the safe return of the fully working cash register. Equipment must be tested by our technicians before any deposit can be refunded.

Additionally, if you would like any programming carried out other than your company details on the receipt, such as product, keyboard presets or VAT programming, there will be an additional charge of £55.00 + V.A.T.

I don’t think a scanning system is right for my business, are there other options?
